If I may say, I am a very visual person who prefers watching compare to reading books. Watching Youtube become an activity that I do every night before going to bed and brought me to find a very interesting video. This video discusses a fashion designer named Toton Januar and his brand named Toton the Label. His spirit for success is very inspiring. This blog discusses Indonesian designers, Toton Januar and the background of toton the label's establishment.

The journey as a designer and founding the Toton The Label brand began in 2012. But the thought and desire has been there since he was a child where he unconsciously was interested in fashion. He was born and raised with her mother who is a single mother and worked as a tailor. But there are many reasons why he didn't jump into the world of fashion at the first place. As a boy especially in Indonesia, the option to be a fashion designer is not a right choice suggested by the family. After going through a long process where he took the civil engineering and broadcast major in college, 2005 became his first step to study in New York majoring in fashion design and graduating in 2008.

I started school at the Parsons School of Design in New York, whereby meeting people, I could see Indonesia and fashion in Indonesia from a broader angle. So when he returns to Jakarta later, he wishes to create a brand that can translate Indonesia by producing a contemporary product that is more usable and accepted by the local Indonesian community and the entire world. And finally, in 2012, Toton was born and tested to sell in the Singapore market, which is targeted at a global audience. After seeing the community's development and good feedback, Toton opened his own first store in Indonesia. As predicted, this brand can be well received by the public with great enthusiasm.
Inspiration for every Toton product is always about Indonesia. The reason is that commitment and the establishment of this brand are based on a great love for Indonesia. The inspiring figure that I always carry is my mother. Personal style, personality and everything in my mother represents the figure of a woman who is suitable for Toton The Label. Until now, the struggle faced by Toton Januar is convincing the world market that the products and designs of brands in Indonesia are also worthy to stand side by side with other famous brands around the world.
Indonesia is a rich, strong country with all the provisions and we only have to work on together to make Indonesia even more advanced and better. What holds on to this young designer's life are words his mother once said such as "There is no sincerity that has no value". Basically, whatever we do and do in our lives even though the results are few, can progress forward but can also be thrown backwards, it does not mean that it has no meaning. By the time we get to the point where we stand now, looking back and were gonna realize that all those experiences are provisions that prepare us to be there.
From this video, I can conclude that there is no easy journey to becoming a successful person. Surely, we encounter many challenges on each step that we take and there will be pros and cons to all the decisions we make. But Toton Januar's passion and struggle can inspire us to continue to appreciate and enjoy the process. Even though the times are modern, we can still preserve culture through contemporary works so that people will continue to provide good enthusiasm. We must be creative to create new innovations that can advance the fashion industry in the eyes of the world.
